Distillerie Fichera
In 1924 Comm. Alfio Fichera takes over a structure that has been functioning for over 50 years. Although being difficult times, in between wars, he worked with enthusiasm and determination, so as to create between the Fichera family, with young Sebastian, Alfio, Salvatore, and Giuseppe (alternating the studio to work on the farm) an extraordinary partnership with their employees (the foundations for the farm prosperity) and created a decent welfare in the area using local manpower.
In the mid-thirties the first unique and appreciated liquor was born, the Amaro, and labeled "Fine Cognac Etneo", the current "Sicilian Brandy". With the second World War the business undergoes a profound setback. The disappearance in Russia of Alfio throws the family into despair, but with the return from the war of the other sons work resumes with renewed force and in the late forties for Don Alfio arrives the cross for "Commendatore del lavoro". In the late Fifties the company grows by modernizing equipment.
Sebastiano is responsible for Transport; Salvatore of trade and the distillery; Giuseppe with the excellent rag. Romeo of accounting and administration, all under the guidance and enthusiasm of their father. At that time they were consolidating the sector of liquors, first under the leadership of Mr. Peppino Stano and then of Mr. Peppino Toscano.
In 1965 a brilliant idea of Salvatore gave birth to the inimitable "Fire of Etna" which, patented, is still the leading product of the company, sought after by tourists as a typical product of Sicily.
The years that followed saw great prosperity for the company, but one after another every few years also saw the passing of Comm. Alfio Fichera at age of 76 years and his three sons. Since 1982 the heirs followed and led by a lovable dedication and experience of the rag. Romeo, continue the family tradition ferrying, in the third millennium, a fast-growing farm, determined to push the boundaries of Sicily and established itself on the international market with new and sought after products, such as the "Limoncello of Etna", "Orange Liquor", "Mandarin Liquor", which encompass a range of well established products, born from the tenacity of the Comm. Alfio Fichera.
